In San Antonio the "girls'" menfolk were happy to claim them and the grandson reluctantly gave Gran back her vehicle. With a big bag of trail mix and a large Dr. Pepper for supper, I hit the road for Kingsville where my sweetie husband was also happy to welcome me.
I'll attach a few pictures that didn't quite fit anywhere else but are fun reminders of eight days with some of my most favorite people.
... The founder Captain King's legacy was to never sell the land and they now have 860,000 acres. As big as the state of Rhode Island!!!! After leaving the ranch we went into the historic downtown section of Kingsville....went to the King Ranch Saddle Shop and Museum...very interesting. Although the weather in Ireland had been "Warm" and Sunny, almost without exception, the announcement that "it's 101º on the ground in San Antonio" made me want to turn around and go back. But we handed W over to his parents and M and I put petrol in the Jeep and stopped at Whataburger for lunch on the go and headed south to turn M over to the other grandmother and to reunite Granny with Grandpa.
