    Training Hike in Doughton Park

follow the parkway southbound, but through more forested areas so no more
sweeping panoramic views. We did see a
number of wildflowers blooming in the area, including fire pink and some other
flowers that I couldn’t identify. When
we reached the Basin Cove Overlook, we turned onto Flat Rock Ridge Trail to
head back to the parking area. The ...

... in shortly. Lacey and I
are sitting on our cabin’s deck enjoying a gentle breeze and temperatures in
the low 60’s. We needed to have the
furnace on in the camper last night and, since we are headed for the

... there were another 30 or 40 cars having a snooze. Again, this was a huge mixture from the very ratty to the almost pristine, but even more dusty than the museum. Apparently they swap the cars in and out of the main museum as the whim takes them. Great little bonus.
We will head northward toward Washington, up through the Shenandoah Valley, but will pause at the Blue Ridge Music Center to check it out and leave our thanks with Erynn for a very special weekend.

Day 2 - Bear Knob, TN to Wytheville, VA

... a waterfall spilling right out of the fibers!

We decided to drive a little more until we got sick of driving (well until Armando got sick of driving), so a little after 4:00 we stopped in Wytheville, VA for the night. It's tucked in the mountains too, and here's a picture of our view of the pretty mountains, but the buildings and the billboards kinda mess up the view. Susie's and Bob's view was way better!!
