... today in Statesville, NC and are staying at The Red Roof Inn. Had a delicious All You Can Eat Buffet at SHONEY'S, right next to the motel, for only $4.95 ea, senior discount (regular price $7.95 ea). Growing old does have its advantages.
While waiting in Roanoke this morning, received word that my dad was back in ...
WW and I drove across western NC. Got to a town called Statesville and went into J&R Cigars, billed as the World's largest cigar store. They ain't lying. BIg ol' CHurchills for $3 (or less).
We camped at Lake Norman, land donated to the State of NC by the Duke Power company as long as the state let them leave their nuke there. No pics. Suprisingly nice campground.
We left Atlanta shortly before 11 am today and had a rather uneventful trip up I-85 to Charlotte. We took a short detour to Cornelius to visit my cousin Eloise Crawford. We had a good time reminiscing about church camps at Maryville College, back when we were "Northern Presbyterians." She reminded me that my brother, John, always had the job of ringing the bell in Anderson tower at dinner time and for other important events such as classes and vespers. We enjoyed our evening with Eloise.
Cornelius, North Carolina, United States concerto33... interesting site and a good place to make a pit stop and photo op... We stopped for lunch at a $5.99 all-you-can-eat pizza buffet - its a real popular way of eating down here - and then we even found a place to get two good expressos - we are obviously not yet in the thick of the south - the coffee was good and Sylvain found a good way to keep the coffee warm. We kept driving down that road and ended ...
Lincolnton, North Carolina, United States courtrand... kayak, canoe, read, cook, work on my house and yard, and goof-off with Ella. Like Jessi, I'm really looking forward to the experiences our team will have while travelling through the western portion of India, primarily in the state of Gujarat. I'm especially interested in checking out the traditional and contemporary pottery in the areas through which we travel, and I hope I get ...
Valdese, North Carolina, United States gseindia... bolts...? and bungee cords. Then off to the storage unit - for the last time to put some last minute items in storage. As we worked the storage unit like a puzzle it was at this time I turned to Juice (with a tear in my eye) and exclaimed " I sure hope you're still friends with me in 6 months". As someone is going to have to help me remember how the heck we got everything in there ...

Cornelius, North Carolina, United States rachelm1075... things out for the crazies that would soon arrive to buy my JUNK! Wow... did I have alot of Junk. So most everything sold - of the big items anyway - my TV was the last thing to sell for $25 and if my mind serves me correctly... as it was early - two toe rings sold first for a price of 25 cents! The rest of the toe ring collection sold later for $2.00!!! The books were a big hit - including the Guide to Sex Handbook. So ...
Cornelius, North Carolina, United States rachelm1075... Pain pills and sleep were as much as I could think about. Since Monday night I've been dealing with these things. Tuesday, I had a long spell of the back part of the process. On Wednesday, there was none of the intense pain, but I couldn't walk too well because of the soreness. (Not being able to walk is becoming the theme of my summer.) Yesterday and Today have been a lot better all around, but I cancelled my weekend plans because I didn't want to be away from home if I got hit ...
