... by local Carolinians but there was no place to safely park the RV, so we continued on to the “Jumpinoff Rock” observation area. There was a mile trail reported to be a great viewing area, so we hiked UP the trail. Did I mention it was UP the trail? Add to the climb the change in elevation (3,125 ft), I was wheezing pretty well by the top we got to the top. The view was good but I’m not sure it was worth it; there are ...

After a drive of a few hours, we arrived at our motel in the small town of...Hurricane! Thankfully we didn't encounter any severe weather, and I thought of those who must have been affected by the flooding from Hurricane Joaquin. (There is also a place called Tornado somewhere in W. Virginia!)

We had a late dinner after checking into our motel. Again, I had a dinner of ...

Monday morning, we broke camp, said good-bye to our friends, and then headed east. We went north on SC-107 and cut over to SC-130, stopping at an overlook where we had lovely views of Lake Jocassee in the early morning light. We then took NC-281 and US-64 into Brevard, NC and then followed US-276 back into South Carolina. Right across the state line, we parked at the trailhead for Raven Cliff Falls at Caesars Head State Park. ...

Pulled in around 2:30. Glad not to have another extended trip time anytime soon. We had a wonderful trip. Great friends to travel with, would definitely get the Special Ed Posse together again anytime, just not back to Alaska! Statistics are a bit sketchy, but by my feeble calculations, we did the following:

          Air Miles 5008
          Rail Miles 283
          Bus Miles 543
          Car Miles 1700
          Ship Miles 1240

          Total 8774
          ...

... be traveling through Scandinavia during late summer and making my way south as fall begins to set in. However, I only have about half of my trip planned at this point. Ideally, I will have a general outline of the order I want to visit particular cities, but have the freedom to change it up once I'm there. That being said, here's the temporary plan:   Oslo, ...
