    ... been recruited by the Union Army. Through back breaking work they made a moat and retaining walls from dirt and wood. The cannons and men with rifles could shoot over the top of the wall. There were many magnificent homes in the area, but they had all fallen into serious disrepair. The area was very depressed, and we found it hard to see.

    ... Callie also cooked a tasty pot roast for dinner. Wednesday we enjoyed my southern favorite: crawfish. YUMMY!!!!! They only really taste good down here and that's a fact! Ethan also had a barbecue on Thursday evening of ribs and chicken. Everything was fantastic and a good reminder of all that's good in the south: good food, friends and family.
