I powered through and finally made it through Pennsylvania. By the end of it, both my feet and shoes needed a break from all the rocks. After crossing the PA/NJ border the rocks continued for another 15 miles but then slowly, to my relief, they began to subside. Maybe it was because I was tired of hiking Pennsylvania, but I really enjoyed the New Jersey section on the trail. Just before crossing the NY border the weather began to change for the worst. ...
... Both of our GPS's took us on slightly different routes. Our goal was to avoid driving through the cities so we purposely headed towards a place called Fish Kill, New York. Exit 11 managed to navigate us into a residential area with many dead ends and verrrrrrrry narrow streets. Clarence kept saying "we're screwed". I kept telling him to listen to the GPS. He kept saying that is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place. Long story short, the GPS finally got us out ...
... about meeting anyone or getting into sound checks or backstage. That it has all happened on my second day on tour is unbelievable.
I could write more but it is 1.30 am and I am sleep deprived.
However the final two lessons learnt today were;
Always keep your diary empty, and
Don’t be shy about introducing yourself to strangers, good things can happen!

... today and stepping on some hidden "hike-enders" just brings the thought up often. It would be crushing, obviously to come this far and not be successful. I've heard a few joke that they won't say they'll make it until they are within crawling distance of the sign.
