        a museum we were planning on visiting and also a place called the
        Holy Land which is like what Israel was like at the time of Christ.
        Sounds interesting.

        First stop in Lawton was the
        Comanche Cultural Museum. Comanche is what they were named by the
        people that came to move them from their land. They don't have a
        translation into English for what their actual name is. It was an
        interesting little museum and we spent about 45 minutes here ...

        ... landscape we see, called the rocklands, are just the tops of the mountains peeking through the sand and grass of the prairie. The rest is compeltly concealed underground. Absolutly beautiful, rugged, wild and BLAZINGLY HOT! But at least it was in Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping round the bend, so it is tolerable.

        We saw lizards, wild longhorns, a cayote, a swimming beetle, prairie dogs and amazing scenery! ...

        ... places my parents took visitors when they came to Lawton. We kids were always dragged along.

        Took Melva out to the Witchita Wildlife Refuge which was one of our favorite places to go when I was in high school. Lots of camping with the guys (little drinking too). There are a lot of buffalo and long horn steer that run wild out there and I think Melva really enjoyed the trip. Went to the top of Mt Scott and was able to see for miles. One of ...
