Well it turned out winter was still going strong, my flight was from Sydney to Dallas and I'd heard someone mention it was snowing in Dallas. After a long uncomfortable flight we disembarked and as we walked up the concourse I noticed a bunch of folders with names on them on a windowsill and an American Airlines staff member talking to a few people …

We started our day in Fort Worth at a nature reserve. We parked up at the visitors centre and started with a 1 mile walk. We immediately came across a couple of large spiders and heaps of different coloured dragonflies. Sam wasn't keen on the walk after seeing the spiders and knowing there might be snakes around. The walk itself was nice though. We came across 'Prairie Dog Town' which at the time we could only see about four of them from the fence ...

... we were all trying to find our way back across six lanes at one point! They drove Tom out to a supermarket to get some dinner supplies - and in true Tom fashion he bought way too much. We then said some brief goodbyes, because we would be seeing them again tomorrow. I attempted boiling water to cook pasta which took 45 minutes with America's weak electricity supples, ate with crying children, then went to bed praying for a full nights sleep for ...
