    Day 8: The long drive home & final budget

    ... and oh so yummy. Matt goes nuts over the teppanyaki. His favorite meal!)

    It ended up taking us 12 hours to make the "short" 8 hour drive. So much for our plans to get home early!

    So this is the final detailed budget tally. Turned out to be a pretty low-cost vacation - especially since we did many "bucket list" activities that are typically super expensive.

    It's SUMMERtime in the Great Smoky Mountains

    ... made it to our cabin! We were so excited to walk in. The place was beautiful. The photos really don't do the place justice. Very nicely decorated with leather recliner couches and deeply cushioned lounge chairs on the deck. 5 bedrooms on 3 levels meant we had plenty of room to spread out. And they they were pet friendly and welcomed Dim Sum ($30 pet fee).Check out the video we made when we first entered the cabin.

    ... and old houses and we three women look at Margie's the little veggie garden and take a short walk, spotting a grazing deer and several rabbits and looking at the nearby apartment where Jon's parents lived in their retired years and where we visited with them until their deaths in the 1980's....and the former home of his first girlfriend, Linda!

    ... Walked around listening to music in different tents, looked at the exhibition from Hockey hall of fame and got some beers and food. I also tried shooting slap shots. Too bad I only got two shots, the second one I was shooting 70 mph, but both shots felt like I missed. I will try again tomorrow if the line is not too long. I had a pretty good seat for the game, but it was hard to see all parts ...

    ... Then on the people mover, she got too close to the side and almost fell on her behind. I haven't seen any new bruises though. However she did fall on her behind when I was checking into the hotel last night. Trying do some type of gymnastics I assume. We are both very excited. She had a million questions for me about the hotel room. Who knew a hotel could be so interesting? More later. B & ...
