We steered Rocinante from the Woodlands on 1488 to Hiway 6 to 36 all the way and nary a car did we see. Very peaceful drive it was with green fields abounding. For lunch we stumbled onto Mother Neff State Park using our faithful GPS. Did you know her youngest of nine, Pat,became a Governor of the State and then a President of Baylor University?? He ...
... they did back in HS, but with a few years added on. Late Saturday afternoon, we met back up with everyone at the Abilene Country Club for dinner and more visiting. Eddie Sides, our class President, gave a wonderful and poignant talk that drove home a lot of what was going through my mind as to the environment we grew up in and the values that our parents instilled on us. We made it to Walmart around 7:30 CDT, and found it to be a very popular place for RVs and trucks alike. There are several of us parked here for the night. Thankfully, there was a Dairy Queen in the parking lot so dessert was a no brainer.
So, it's time to sign off for another day of fun on the road. Tomorrow we head for the KOA in Weatherford, Texas. More from the road tomorrow.
