Today was a long road day, and we prepared by getting to breakfast at 6:45 am. This helped us get out onto the road by about 8 am, and we needed every ounce of day light to make it to our destination--Tulsa, Oklahoma. ... hot. Morning tea today is in transit. Cold drinks and tomato and cheese on crackers all prepared while motoring along old Route 66. Next stop is in Carthage. This is a pretty little town . It's claim to fame besides being on Route 66 is its City Hall, Whee Bridge and a number of beautiful historical houses. ... wanting lunch. We went via the Route 66 Harley Davidson dealership. Wow, this is how big and how one should be run!! And, the Diner next door was an added bonus for the weary travellers needing lunch and a cold drink.
After lunch, Sean and I headed onto Tulsa. Karl, Vicki, Julie and Russell headed out of town and ended up in Bristow - about 60 miles away. We will meet up sometime tomorrow and head through to Elk ...
We started our journey at 9am today. We first journeyed into Oklahoma to see the Oklahoma City National Memorial which was a very moving memorial to the people that died in the Oklahoma bombing.
