    Today was all about Katie Emerson. Katie finished her finals on Thursday and walked across the stage during graduation ceremonies at the Humboldt State University Football Stadium today (Saturday).
    Getting ready went fairly smooth, considering there are three extra bodies in the house. We didn't have to leave until about 11:30 am so bathroom time was easier than an earlier curtain call.

    ... amongst the trees you're flip flopping between state and national park. Most importantly is that those remaining have protection. They are quite stunning to see standing right underneath one.

    Thanks to a stop in a visitor center, a park ranger gave us a heads up that the gray whales are migrating right now and might be seen at a point some 20 miles further up the road. We made this our last stop in the park and were not disappointed! Winding our way up ...

    ... heard that a town I passed by the other day supposedly has more tramps in it then residents right now! It's really cool to finally see that all the hitchhikers and train hoppers that I read about, do actually exist.     ... about 7:20 pm, the drive from there to Arcata was mostly in the dark. Not fun! The kids were great. No complaining at all. I think they knew I was stressed. Finally arrived at about 11:30 pm. Whew.
