      It was a long drive from Swift Current to Rimbey but mom and I did take time to stop in Big Valley to tour the town, have a salad and share a Reuben sandwich and visit the local antique shop. It was nice to spend time with mom.

      Once in Rimbey, we stopped by to see my aunt Violet (widow of Bruce Fernie). Aunt Violet is very warm and loving and we had a nice visit with her and remembered to take a few pictures before departing.

      ... of old parts. I thought the artist did a pretty good job. I forgot to ask the staff the story about the creation, but I was inspired by the creativity and beauty of the work.

      ... about 9 for Calgary (3hr drive) - there is something compelling in the 'wide open spaces' the countryside quite green at this time of year - lots of cattle out on the open pasture (most of them moved there in the last couple of weeks). We see a really, really long train of containers - I learn that the trains today are so long that they sometimes run the track like a one-way street -- and then when that train is through - reverse the direction for the next train - easily 2miles ...
