Guthrie OK is worth the stop

... name of "Sooners", because they got there sooner than they were supposed to. There's so much I don't remember from my history, and it's so much more interesting to me now.

Guthrie has a huge section dedicated to historic district, so being in town is like being there at the turn of the century. They have kept many brick streets, and the buildings have been restored to their former glory, and we found it to be a peaceful, lovely town.

... land grab" and other epic stories of the history in the area. The Dalton brothers were from this area, and it's said that Mama raised 13 children, and all but 4 were law-abiding citizens! We also went through the Chisholm Trail museum in a nearby town of Kingfisher. We are spending a second night here and will leave in the morning for the town of El Reno and Clinton. ...

We started out this morning from McAlester, Ok, made the trip up to Emporia, Kansas, and arrived this evening at Guthrie, O.K., not too far from where we started.
