This is a great place to stop over the service is top class. There are lots of places to eat around and about. We were given a room on a secure floor of the hotel. Good fitness facilities and indoor pool.

so I am going down river stern first.. got it...? The Good life............

          Settled in with Skoglunds

A travel blog entry by pykesonthego on Sep 01, 2014

We arrived at our friends the Skoglunds' house last Thursday, still in the overwhelming heat and humidity. Once we got set up in their driveway, we attempted to run one a/c, but the long run extension cord hooked up to house power wasn't enough to make it happen - so we settled into their guest rooom for the long Labor Day Weekend. ...

But really, is anything worth that kind of wait?

You get in and it really feels like Willy Wonka is going to hop in with an oompa-loompa and take you to the chocolate waterfall. Which would have been really cool. Instead the doors opened up to a ...

... we love cranville and it is a mighty shame that we should probably never go back. :( We got on the road again and headed for St Louis making a brief pit stop to do some much needed laundry with a very helpful but incredibly boring woman! we visited the 'chain of rocks' bridge that was incredible! It spans the Mississippi river and the Illinois/Missouri state boarder. We then ****** about ...

... afternoon we’ve spent time in the business suite planning a way out of town which avoids the supposedly 'deadly’ district of East St. Louis. A friendly chap in there reckoned that probably crime rates are down due to extreme heat keeping people inside, but we think we won’t risk it anyway! As far as the route ahead to New York goes, we’ve got about 1100 miles left, a distance which should be fairly straightforward in the 25 days ...
