Carlsbad Caverns and on to Fredricksburg Texas

A travel blog entry by agnetasherborne

... too long bd towards the end quite scenic as we drive up into barren hills. Cactuses but no trees and it felt that it was quite high up at about 250 m above the surrounding plains. We arrived basically spot on opening hours and it was pretty great. Be the first to enter the downhill descent to the caverns was very special. All quiet and no one around made this an extraordinary nature experience. One could have taken an elevator down to the bottom and the big chamber ...

We passed through Guatalupe National Park and the big mountain which is among the highest peaks in NM is named El Capitan We also passed through sand dunes and desert area. Yeah, thats a good use of money, especially when you post signs a mile down the road announcing yourself. duh! Enjoy.

Thousands upon thousands - actually between 250,000 and 400,000 swarming and off to feed. Quite something to behold - and certainly not to be forgotten. ...

... in numbers, were still emerging. At the campsite we got ready for bed and Dulcey made Gary come to the creepy bathroom with her. The bathroom had a dark brow tile everywhere, even the ceiling, hadn't been cleaned, were full of bugs, had no stall doors and gang showers. did I say creepy? There were huge bugs outside, and we passed a beetle as big as our palm. While Dulcey doesn't mind beetles at all, spiders are another story, and Gary can kill if ...
