    Day 16

Continued South today to visit Tom & Gillian.

Tom gave me a heads up that the gated community (Plantation) where they live did not allow motorcycles within the grounds - ironically the recently retired ex-CEO of Harley Davidson lives within the same Plantation. ha ha!.
The security people at the Gatehouse kindly showed me where I could park my bike ...

... showed my initial thought of, "You've got to be (beep) me!" The Emmolos are true friends though, and the box was only filled with a Carter Party of balloons, sparklers, and party poppers. We're back on the road tomorrow, but are so thankful for the time we have had with dear friends! Thanks Emmolos for a wonderful and much needed visit…we can hardly wait until the next time!

... walked down River Street. There is so much amazing architecture and old historic buildings. I also have to say the food here is beyond amazing. Everywhere we look we remember a meal we had last time we were here. In fact the hotel is right around the corner from the Olde Pink House where we had a great meal on our last trip here. I have to say I am sure my friend Deb would LOVE this town as much as I do. It has a soul just like New Orleans. And I have to say ...

After another day of mostly driving, we have arrived home safe and sound. What a GREAT trip this was. Lots of super memories of beautiful places and fun times. We wound up driving (I should say Tom wound up driving) a total of 2,923.2 miles through 10 states - South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois and North Carolina. As we drove home we reviewed all we did and voted for our 'bests' and 'worsts'.

    Best Meal ...
