    ... Sausalito it was sunny. Sausalito is historic an upmarket waterfront twin which is good for a browse for an hour or so. After lunch we drove to Muir Woods to see the redwoods.     ... we checked in to the room. Once settled and refreshed, we went out exploring and walked to the Chinatown gate. SF sort of like a very hilly and grittier version of NY and felt quite alien after all the beautiful scenery we'd been used to.     ... grabbed a coffee (absolutely disgusting) and boarded the ferry for the quick trip across to Alcatraz, very hazy as the pictures show and could only just see the Golden Gate Bridge through the haze. Landed on what used to be called "the rock" and had a quick introduction from one of the National Park Rangers.
