Hey Guys,

So I am currently in Alaska. It's been a long day, I was up at 5am and its 8.30pm Alaska time which means it’s well past midnight in Washington DC where I was this morning. I am tired!!! But I am watching the finale of The Bachelorette and it’s still light out as Alaska have very late sunsets like at 11pm so it’ …

New Orleans, i.e., NOLA, i.e., the Big Easy, i.e., Hurricane City, looks like a French, Spanish, and Caribbean sundae with sprinkles of America on top. Bourbon Street sounds like horns, …

Let The Good Times Roll

"Laissez les bons temps rouler" - New Orleans motto meaning "Let the good times roll". The people of New Orleans are certainly living by this as they recover from Hurricane Katrina. However, some things in New Orleans have changed and this made the trip back to New Orleans a little disappointing for Pete.

When Pete was here 15 …

Afrotime

I am having an afro with all this curly weather. No kidding the moisture has curls springing out everywhere.

Yesterday's flood warning was over at five but it is raining again. It poured all night long and our fancy pump in the corner is overflowing. We call it our hot tub cause it is in the vicinity of the pool. We were laying bets on when it would overflow but it really never did it just dropped from a ...

    Hampton Inn

    from

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn on Carondelet Street for four nights. The hotel is two blocks from Bourbon Street off of Canal Street. The room was spacious and well keep. Liked the walk in shower.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We did eat at two of the restaurants the hotel recomended. The "Red Fish Grill" and the "Acme Oyster Bar". The Red Fish Grill was OK, but I didn't like the Sweet Potato Cat Fish. My wife got the Almond Crusted Red Fish and it was OK.

The prices were high for what we got, and that is true for a lot of the restaurants their. The Acme Oyster bar was not good! I got a Shrimp Po Boy sandish and it was the worst I ever had! My wife got a "Chicken Po Boy" and it wasn't good either! The prices are reasonable, but the food is bad!!

    Best Stay

    from

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn on Carondelet Street. This is by far one of the best facilities one can expect. Room was excellent.

High ceilings, spacious floor plan and excellent beds. Also large bath and dressing areas. Food was absolutely impeccable. I wish I were there now. I would not plan to stay anywhere else.

    Great Location

    from

This hotel is a couple of blocks from Bourbon Street, right off Canal.

It is easy to catch the trolley to go to the Riverwalk or you can walk to Harrahs. We found this hotel clean and the staff very helpful. The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. If you are looking for a good internet connection though in which to conduct business, they are lacking in this department. Also, we ordered a refrigerator and one never became available. Be sure and eat at the Red Fish Grill on Bourbon. The food is fantastic!! The slots at Harrahs are not good. If you want to gamble, take a ride to Biloxi. Haven't been to NO French Quarter in a long time and was disappointed to find it dirty and stinky.

    Stick with a Hampton

    from

As usual Hampton came through with an immaculate hotel, in a great location, and a fantastic price. Bourbon street only a 5 minute walk.

Our room was great and quite large. My only complaint would be the same as many N.O hotels, and that is they hold your car captive when you arrive and expect to be tipped every time you need something you forgot out of it. I have no idea where our car even was. Plus they want a 30 minute norice if you need anything from the car. The breakfast was really good, and everything was well placed, and convienent. I would stay there again.

Awesome Hotel w/ a Super Staff

    from

What a wonderful experience with the Hampton Inn. This past weekend July 25-28th my husband and I arrived to the French Quarter only to find out the 5 star Hotel we reserved online, the St. Louis turned out to be a dump, we went over to the Hampton and they were more than obliged to accomodate us. They gave us a great room that was clean and crisp. The maid service was wonderful and polite. The continetal breakfast was the best I have ever been too, with waffles, pastries, you name it, they had it. BUt I have to say, if it was not for the front desk staff, Aimee & Nailea, we would of had an awful time in New Orleans, but they di what ever it took to get us into a nice room and at a discount too. Thanks to them we had a wonderful time in New Orleans after the dreaded Hotel Hell at the St. Louis.

    Best Bed Ever

    from

My wife and I spent four nights in New Orleans in July 03. We chose the Hampton Inn, French Quarter, based on Tripadvisor reviews, location and price. We have never been more satisfied with a hotel. The service was outstanding, the room was extremely clean, and the king bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get out of bed in the mornings. One of the fine bellmen took us into the employee lounge to get us a map, where we saw a large chart containing employees' names and merit stickers. The chart said: "caught being excellent." The rates were about $10 cheaper than the nearby Holiday Inn Express, and the Hampton guaranteed us a king bed and a non-smoking room. After we arrived we had to cut our trip a day short, and the Hotel graciously canceled our last night's reservation without a charge. Simply, the hotel was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans.

    Great Stay

    from

Great Stay, great service, location is a brisk walk to the quarter but just a few blocks. Front Desk staff are very courteous and attentive.

Rooms are very nice with tall ceilings. Would stay here again.

    Loved the Hampton Inn

    from

Being in the Hotel trade (Both myself and my wife work in 5* complexes) I am very fussy where I rest my head at night. However, the Hampton Inn is a little gem in the heart of New Orleans. Our room was clean and spacious with good views of the city, my dealings with the staff was always met with a cheerfull smile, and nothing was too much trouble. An extra night would have been nice but unfortunately Orlando was calling. Give yourselves a treat head for the big easy.
