... were only 20 minutes from Monterey Bay and Carmel, so we figured we would go there and find some nice place to have lunch. We picked Old Fisherman's' Wharf as a destination on the GPS. It worked like a charm because it led us through the streets of Monterey, down to the water where we were met by the pier and a sign saying, "Deliveries Only". Luckily we found some nice street parking two blocks up the hill. Katie bravely walked ...

We have a car now and have been exploring. The countryside is very dry as there has been little rain. Our lunch spot yesterday was situated in the town of San Juan Bautista, or mission town. Here you find the 15th mission built by the Catholic Church .. Here is an excerpt! Founded by Father Lasuen in 1797 this mission was unwittingly located directly above the San ...

We set off out of the harbour and see loads of seals, some sea otters and of course Pelicans. As we get out of the harbour the swell starts and it is up and down, up and down all the way. The weather at this time is a bit overcast and somewhat ...

... find things thrown about from their formerly secure locations. It will be a mess for sure!

We will head north from Vacaville on I-505, a connector freeway to I-5. This is the portion of the drive that transforms from a white knuckle ride to the equivalent of driving with Miss Daisy. From there it is a enjoyable country drive for hundreds of miles. We will most likely overnight in or around Redding.
