We grabbed some lunch then jumped on a coach for a tour around the centre. The tour took us past the building where the space vehicles are built, a massive structure equivalent to 57 stories. We also saw launch pads, the sites of multiple launches. The tour then stopped at an attraction focussed on ...

Same seems to apply to CoCo Cay, with the happy exception that I didn't encounter any lines.

Historical Traveler Reviews Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral
Fabulous! A great place to stay!
We visited Cocoa Beach in early November 2004 and after reading many of the tripadvisor.com reviews decided to stay at the Hampton Inn on Atlantic Ave (A1A). We reserved a King Suite with a view via the Hampton web site at the AAA rate of $98 per night plus tax. Check-in was fine and the staff was cheerful and friendly. We found our 8th floor room to be nice and clean with amenities such as a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron and board, sofabed and tv with playstation. The room was plenty large enough for the two of us.
The hotel is set up with an exterior corridor on the front side of the building with room entrances off that corridor and ice and soda machines in the center near the elevator. All rooms appear to have a balcony on the back side of the building and ours was equipped with two plastic chairs and a small table. While listed as an ocean view, the hotel is NOT right on the beach (one building between the hotel and beach) and the hotel building is almost perpendicular to the shore. It does give you a view of the ocean and the area south of the hotel but I suspect the lower floors don't have a very good view. We did get a great view of a Kennedy Space Center night rocket launch from the 8th floor corridor balcony side of the building.
The continental breakfast was excellent with some hot items and the usual cereals, yogurt, fruit, breads, donuts, beverages, etc. Coffee and tea were available all the time. The dining staff was very friendly and helpful. There are two public computers in the lobby (they were having some connection issues while we were there) and free high speed internet is available in the rooms and free Wi-Fi internet access is available in the lobby/dining area (with an access code from the front desk). We used the lobby Wi-Fi with no problems.
There is a very nice pool and while not on the beach, there is a path from the pool to the beach. Other than a driveway, you don't cross any roads and it's not a far walk. Pool towels are provided and you can take them to the beach. There's also a small but pretty well equipped fitness center. The only problem we had was the cable in our room wasn't working and it took a little time for maintenance to come figure out that someone had unhooked it from the TV. Other than that there were no problems.
We thought it was a great hotel and would definitely stay there again. Great price, easy beach access, nice breakfast, friendly staff and clean.
Nothing Special... needs some help
We were less than thrilled with our stay at the Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach. We found some things in our room were not in working order and the room wasn't as clean as it could be. We had the most trouble with our bathroom. The tub was dirty when we checked in and the tub faucet handle came off when we adjusted the water flow or temperature. Our bathroom also lacked a lock on the door. The other big problem was our Internet connection. There was no indication where it was. A call down to the front desk got us a location, but we still had to move a heavy nightstand to reach the cable. The bed was also a challenge. It sagged and was not comfortable. On the plus side, the pool was well heated and there was beach access. However, be warned that ocean view does not mean ocean front. There are no ocean front rooms at this hotel. The building is placed diagonally behind another high-rise (which does have ocean front rooms).
We enjoyed our stay
We recently stayed here during our Christmas vacation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is close to the beach but has a heated pool for those who don't swim in the ocean. The breakfast is great--we had eggs, ham, biscuits/gravy, cereal plus more. The room we stayed in needed some minor repairs (mainly rust spots) but other than that was very nice. I would recommend paying the extra for the ocean view.
We spent three days before Thanksgiving before going on to Disney. Weather was wonderful. Hotel had everything we needed and more for a very reasonable price. Extra clean rooms and large bathrooms. Much better than our more expensive rooms at Disney. Excellent view from front and back of room. Delightful and abundant breakfast. Pool and ocean was a real treat for twin 12 yr. olds girls and I after leaving 34 degree weather at home. Our first time to see ocean and Florida and beach was so beautiful. Will be back for sure. Thanks for a most relaxing three days. Staff extra helpful. We enjoyed our stay in Cocoa Beach more than Disney and much of that was due to a comfortable place to stay. Thanks
A good hotel.
This is a nice hotel. The rooms are older, but do not smell musty and are clean. The hallways are exterior but with limited access through the lobby. Breakfast was decent, and free. The best part of this hotel is the easy walk to beautiful Cocoa Beach- a sandy path through trees that does not cross a street. Overall- a very good place to stay.
And nice hotel with a good view
Stayed here for a few nights and enjoyed the view from the room and the ease at getting to the beach.
The room was clean and in good condition.
The staff were informative and helpful.
I love Cocoa Beach and I will return to this hotel.
We stayed here for three nights in June and really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and the property well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was great - lots of variety. Pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereals, yogurt, bagels, fruit. The beach is a short walk away, the pool area was very nice. We were not bothered by any noise. The room had a microwave and small refrigerator. The bed was a bit soft for my taste but just right for our teenage son. I'm always a bit concerned when staying in Florida because I know it's a challenge to keep out bugs and mildew - but we did not experience that at the Hampton. We would stay here again.
Large hotel. great if leaving on cruise.
my wife and I stayed here in late January 2004. very large Hampton Inn.
they seemed to be primarily for the cruise ship crowd, at least in January. we were visiting the Kennedy Space Center the next day. the hotel was very well located for this as well as cruise ships leaving from the area. the hotel is NOT on the beach. you must walk a boardwalk past another hotel to get to beach. you do have a ocean view, at least from upper floors of Hampton.
Super Bowl weekend getaway
Weather wasn't the greatest but we sat on the balcony (all rooms have them) and watched the waves rolling into shore. Dinner at Durangos and a few drinks at Paddy Cassidy's made for an enjoyable stay at a $89.00 weekend rate. Nice to get away from the tourists in Orlando.AVOID the Hilton down the street, it,s a DUMP.
Very nice hotel
This is a pretty new, clean hotel. The staff was friendly and the free continental breakfast was very good - nice variety and they kept everything replenished. Also has two computers in the lobby with Internet access, heated outdoor pool, and an exercise room. The hotel is very close to the beach and there is a walkway to it from the parking lot. We had an oceanview room on the 6th floor and had a good view of the ocean, but also the condominiums and parking lot. We did not mind too much but if you want to see just the ocean from your room, you should choose another hotel. Also, there is no bar inside the hotel so we went to the one in the hotel next door.
