    Day 1 and 547 miles

A travel blog entry by expeditioners on May 22, 2014

The first day and 500 miles behind us. The objective was to get past Dallas and I'm glad I did. We ended up at a roadside campground that I was able to pull right in and leave the car hitched. Just plugged in, turned on the A/C and hit the bed.
The travel has been good so far. Texas roads are a bit worse than Louisiana but traveling through Dallas is not for a novice especially in motorhome.

Looking forward to New Mexico. The planned stop is a town called Santa Rosa.

Today was all about relaxing...I slept in, had breakfast, hung out with friends, enjoyed the sunshine, and attempted to take a Zumba class on the lot. Haha. I don't have the coordination I used to, so I looked pretty silly but it was a good workout nonetheless. John cleaned the house and made sure I was well taken care of the ...

... way from the plane, ice on the conveyor belt bringing up the bags, Eight bags came off at a time, and then it would freeze. One hour later, we had our bags. Now it's out to find a taxi. Taxis would only pick you up if they were heading in your direction. There were 8-10 people sharing taxis, mostly to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth. There were no shuttles to the hotels, there were no shuttles to ...

... to Rwanda. We were thrilled and excited to find out that she had a layover in Brussels, just a train ride away from the head of the trail! With Matthew’s unending support we decided that if she was already to be in Europe, I should go ahead and meet her. I feel very grateful for this chance, just before marrying, to have the space and time to walk, think, write, and ultimately meditate on love and the future ...
