So I've finished two full weeks of classes, and I have to say, this is so much different than the University of Minnesota. Problem-Based Learning is a completely new concept to me, and I'm still figuring out if I like it.
First of all, there are really no lectures (I actually have a lecture every Wednesday for one of my classes but it is "optional" = ain't gonna happen). Everything is discussion based, and all of the discussions are led by the students ...

In Maastricht, Carnaval is a huge celebration. Originally, it began as a Catholic celebration right before Lent begins. Now, it's just one big, three-day-long party. People here begin preparing for the event in November, even though Carnaval is the first weekend in March. Suffice it to say, it's a big deal here in Maastricht and I'm so excited to be able to participate. We even get an entire week off of school for it.

... can get your waffles with or without slagroom. The waitress didn't speak English hardly at all, but we finally figured out slagroom is whipped cream. The waffles were absolutely delicious, probably the best one I've ever had.
On the way back from the boat tour, we ran into a marching band in the Markt. It looked really important and official, so we stopped and watched it and waited for something to happen for quite a while. ...
