    ... to make sense of it. Because of its history, a short visit becomes preoccupied with trying to get one's head round those events and times, not leaving sufficient time to explore the dynamic city as it is today, which is what I very much wanted more time to do. If I were going to be living in Europe I could say for certain that this is a city to which I would return, but it's a very long way from Aus. I hope it happens though, and next time I will give it much longer. It deserves it.

    ... around in the sunshine, turn a corner and Wham ! you're at another site which illustrates how terrible humans can be to each other.

    Checkpoint Charlie aka the Allied Checkpoint is touristy and gimmicky now but the exhibition brought it's importance to light - the US Vs Russian tank 'face-off' - one of the many powerful images on show.

    ... and all public transport to date. The only downside is he is not always so obligingly polite. The movement of trains and busses seems to always bring on an attack of silent but offensive wind. So whilst he sits looking as though butter would not melt in his mouth, other people start to give sideways glances to the two tourists with the dog wondering no doubt who is responsible.     ... a tool kit, a box for the back of my bike, another rack for the front of Paul's bike, panniers and a front pouch for my bike. We also bough a couple of spare tubes and some handle bar ends , or cow horns as Paul likes to call them. We then sat at the bike shop and put it all together. They look amazing, like true tourers! It was pretty lucky too, in the panniers that we bought for Paul we found inside a really good quality waterproof rain jacket thing with a ...
