Hotel Nice but ... Charged for items I didn't take

    from

The hotel was very nice but when I received my bill I had an additional charge I did not authorize. I called the hotel and informed me the extra $40 was for an ice bucket removed from the room. I explained that I did not take an ice bucket from the room that there must be some other explanation. They refused to credit the $40 claiming that I must have taken the bucket.

    Best hotel ever!

    from

My family loves this hotel! We call it our home away from home! The pool is really nice, along with the exercise room and dining area. It's a great deal during the off-season, but maybe a bit too expensive during the summer. I highly recommend going there!

Hamilton Inn Select is the BEST!!!!

    from

In September I spent a wonderful weekend at the Hamilton Inn Select in Mackinaw City. For starters, the staff was friendly and very accomodating. I was quickly checked-in and given great instructions on things to do in town. They even gave me a coupon book which saved my family and I a lot of money. The rooms where especially clean, large and incorporated every amenity I needed. It was also kid friendly, with a large pool off the lobby and indoor corridors that were really helpful on chilly nights. This was our third time staying at this hotel and we definately intend to stay there in the future.

    Wonderful Hotel

Stayed over on a business trip and found the staff courteous and very helpful. My room was extremely clean and all my needs were attended to.

    I highly recommend this hotel.

    Luxurious Stay

    from

My family really enjoyed our recent vacation at the Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront. We have two children so we always have to do our homework to find the perfect hotel. You can only enjoy a relaxing holiday, when your children are happy, and this time the kids really liked where we stayed. They have spacious and elegantly designed guest rooms. It is worth upgrading to be directly on the water with a stunning view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island; if you are lucky, they might give you a special upgrade. This new three-diamond hotel has all interior corridors so your family will be always protected form the cooler fall weather. Our children, in particular, loved the Hamiltons large heated indoor pool while my wife and I enjoyed a relaxing bath in the adjacent spa. My family and I highly recommend this excellent hotel! A. Best place we have ever stayed

    from

My family loved it! We come back year after year. My wife loves the tanning bed and my boys love the pool. They even have a huge fish tank.

    Nightmare Hotel

    from

Pass this one by. I called to cancel my 3 day reservation for 10-9 on 10-6. Was told that I had to call by 12:00 noon. My confirmation card did not say anything about noon cancellation cutoff and neither did they tell me this by phone...nor did their online reservation state this. When I told them my card did not state that and I had not been told, they said it was their word against mine. They hung up on me and when I called back they told me they were not at liberty to give me their names as I might frame them. They are all kooks. Or crooks. We're staying at the Hampton!

    Would not stay there again

    from

We had a confirmed change in departure date, told the desk clerk upon arrival that their system was wrong and we were leaving a day earlier.

We still were charged for the extra day. Nice hotel but will never stay there again because they do not keep acurate records.

    Confirmed reservation not honored

    from

Our confirmed reservation of August 28 was not honored when we arrived at 6:00. We were sent instead to a far inferior hotel not on the lake front and breakfast room so crowded that we skipped it. We had a written copy of the confirmation email and had guaranteed the room with a credit card with a 3 day cancellation requirement.

    Unreasonable Canellation Policy

    from

We had reservations to stay at the Hamilton Inn Select in Mackinaw City for the weekend of July 11-13, 2003. Unfortunately, we had a death in our family on Tuesday evening, July 8th. Upon learning of the death, I immediately called the Hamilton Inn that evening to cancel our reservations but was told I had missed their cancellation "cut-off" time of noon on July 8th for the Friday night reservation and that our credit card would be charged unless the room was rented to another person. I was advised to call back on Wednesday, July 9th to speak with a manager who could over-ride the computer system and would probably understand our situation and make the cancellation. When we called back and spoke to the manager he basically said that there was no way to cancel unless the room was rented to someone else. As you can guess, he charged our credit card that Wednesday night for the Friday night "uncancellable" reservation. That place is a disgrace to the hotel operators in the Mackinaw City area!!

... over the water. We took a jet ferry to Mackinac Island for the day. There are no cars allowed on the island . Only feet, bicycles, snowmobiles, and horse and carriage/wagon. We took a self guided walking tour and a narrated horses and carriage tour. Visited historic Ft. Mackinac and had lunch at the Tea Room which is owned by the Grand Hotel. Did not have time to actually tour the hotel grounds, but enjoyed riding by it. Definitely brings ...

... charge from Trump Center in Mexico. Both were denied and the account flagged. Visa feels like these were test charges to see if they would be honored. Took about 2 hours to get the account canceled and arrange for new cards to be sent to the campground by Friday. Soooo... Change your passwords. Took a bike ride to a campground lookout point for the Mackinaw bridge which ...

... that the course is considered a practice course and there is no fee. They probably assumed we were guests, but we went along and played the course that went up and down the hills and did not pay a cent. Not our best game, but we had fun and didn't feel rushed. Best of all, the price was right. We were hot and looking for a cool treat. On to downtown Harbor Springs, we found a gelato shop and set a spell with some icy concoctions. Strolling in and out ...

... the world. People came from Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere this year just to "sail the Mac." I’d also be willing to bet they would agree with a saying that a late, long-time family friend, one who sailed in many “Macs” seemed to live by. In fact, it was printed on cards he had made to let people know he was ready to sail:

Our first golf outing as a family. It was a beautiful setting and a challenging course, especially for beginners and kids. We finished 9 holes before the storm. Lunch at the club hit the spot. Spent the afternoon watching a movie and eating dinner in. The boys went fishing and Pat caught a fish he named ...
