... a nice line of stories and easily whiled away the time as we sometimes drifted (at a surprisingly high speed) and sometimes powered down the river on our raft.

We travelled as far as the horseshoe bend on the river where there was also a landing point to walk up to some ancient carvings on the canyon wall. Unfortunately on the walk one of Catherine's flip flops broke and had to be fixed with the wire from her hat (which was good as the hat was well past its retirement ...

Left San Fransisco and drove through Napa Valley onto Reno, Nevada to meet up with Dan n Jens friends for a night. We had a huge BBQ and they put us up for the night in their big caravan. Had a great night and plenty of laughs with Bear, Kristen and Kurtis.

Went into Reno city the next day for a quick look around before heading to Lake Tahoe, we stopped in Virginia City on the way for a look around the old town.

... out to be a mistake. It was a big hassle to trailer the boat and launch it each day. This time we spent a few hundred more and rented it from the marina that was within walking distance to the campground. What a difference. Our boat was always on the dock waiting for us whenever we wanted to head out. The only thing that I would do differently next time is to request the newest boat available in advance. The afternoon is spent exploring the marina and generally relaxing before a second storm starts.
We dine in the resort restaurant which is excellent and then sit round the fire pit outside which overlooks the lake.

... biscuits before heading of for Lake Powell our next destination.
We retrace some our steps from the previous day so stop again at the Thunderbird restaurant for lunch. Good wraps and raspberry lemonade.
