This we we took it easy with short drives each day to get from Boston, through New Hampshire and Vermont back into New York State and then south to Pennsylvania. We had a lovely day wandering around little villages filled with quilt shops and all things Amish. The last three days we have spent at the Ford Nationals at Carlisle where Paul has been in car ...

There is a 'Bret Michaels' (from the 80's/early 90's hair metal bad Poison) range of dog collars and leads, as well as a Martha Stewart range. It seems that everything needs some form of celebrity endorsement before people buy it. Even Oprah endorses the **** coffee at Starbucks.

West Virginia Parks are described as off the beaten path… oh, boy the approach to the park off I64 down winding steep pot hole ridden roads was… was…hellish! ... alive and apart from their farms, they run plenty of antique and handicraft shops (their quilts are famous!) as well as restaurants and bakeries. Amish cuisine is hearty and rich and they are experts in preparing pickles, jams, meats and pretzels. Also the people are helpful, friendly and very religious - the world seems still ok in a simple, old-fashioned way.

Our hotel notified us that they would be turning off the power at 9:00 AM the next morning. Kind of interesting. They said that a piece of electrical equipment had to be replaced. For our trouble they gave us bottle of water and a glowstick..
