... town with hotel, numerous restaurants and even a health clinic. The first thing we did was get banana flavored ice cream, which was one of the best things I've ever tasted. It may have been the delirium from the hike because I don't usually like banana flavored things. But it was delicious all the same. We also tried some ginger brittle, made fresh right on the mountain top, and a Taishan pancake, which is basically a crepe wrapped around ...

This was a little day trip I took to Jintai Temple.

The highest peak of the Huangyang Mountain stands within the confines of the Doumen County in the Zhuhai City. I did get into a nerve racking situation though when I thought to myself that I had 2 weeks worth of rent on my favorite island bet on the table and was dealt an 11 against the dealers 8. Of course, I had to double down to a month's rent, but I drew a 3. It really hurts to lose $1600 in one hand when you only started out with $2000. I managed to double up within ...

Took a day trip to Macau, a small island about one hour west of Hong Kong by high-speed ferry. It quickly has become a gambling mecca for those from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Several US casinos have built there, including Venetian, MGM Grand and Wynn. I expected more from Macau. Frankly, the areas where the locals live, away from the casinos, are quite rundown and dirty. There is a nice little shopping area with old Portuguese buildings (the ...
