        ... way up; step wise it was halfway. We really wanted to experience the joy of hiking 3330 stairs so we got started as soon as we got off the bus. And I immediately remembered why I purposefully avoid the stair master at the gym. Stairs suck. And 3000 stairs suck a lot.         ... 3 pounds per person, per night. There were three beds in a small room. At the back was a smaller room, with a sink, toilet and shower. The owner said the shower was only cold water, but we reckoned we could handle that for a couple of nights if we had to.

        Took a day trip to Macau, a small island about one hour west of Hong Kong by high-speed ferry. It quickly has become a gambling mecca for those from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Several US casinos have built there, including Venetian, MGM Grand and Wynn. I expected more from Macau. Frankly, the areas where the locals live, away from the casinos, are quite rundown and dirty.
