That evening we went to see the kites wired with lights and flying in convoys (some of them) the others very large and shining with colorful lights.     ... display at a big art exposition, which we attended later. The kids were very sweet and well behaved. They were working on sculptures of little creatures and they gave each of us a sculpture representing our zodiac signs. They were quite skilled. I got a cute rat.

    ... kites. There were flags of many nations at the entrance and signs in English about kite strings tied to friendship and peace. It was wonderful to see generations together outside (in spite of cold weather) enjoying the kites flying in the wind. I think we must have missed a major part of the kite festival but we learned a lot about Agriculture and Education in Shandong Province.
    We were at the train station by 1 pm for our Express train to Bejing!

    ... temple, mansion and cemetery. That was quite an adventure on its own although I must admit a got very bored quickly. After a while of touring temples in Asia, everything starts to look the same.
