We had a very unsettled spell over three days including a prolonged thunderstorm one night, but yesterday (Saturday) dawned sunny and brighter as forecasted so we picked upon a suggestion from a tourist office leaflet to go inland and explore highland villages. ... square, during which we chatted to a pleasant Spanish couple. So often it is the people we meet that make the experience as memorable as the location. In this case, we discussed TV since they have both honed their English from watching both US and UK programmes. They particularly enjoyed 'Allo, Allo', 'Fawlty Towers' and 'Sherlock' so it's good to have some common ground. I can't think of anything Spanish I have watched in the past ...

... we decided to try rough camping. There were a couple of areas close by and we chose the parking area next to the resoviour. We were first in but were joined by 4 other vans overnight.

Next moring the cloud was down and it was emitting a heavy drizzle. Too damp to climb so we moved on.... another spot we will be returning to.

Most, if not all of the campsites are on the coast, so we headed for Cudillero as our base... but as with all good plans they can be changed!

We never did return to Cudillero after climbing so its on the list to spend more time there next time.

With 1000km to drive in 2 days to get to Logrono to meet the girls, we had a fair bit of driving to do. We drove out of Portugal along the coast to the North-west corner of Spain before heading along the north coast and stopping for the night in the seaside town of Gijon.
