Floating Markets

We woke just before alarm at 5am, headed downstairs to meet Miss Hu our guide, she walked us across the road and we boarded a smallish boat. Went on the river for 30-45 mins till we arrived at the Cai Rang floating markets, just before we got there we all climbed up on the top of the boat so we would have a better view, such a great idea.

I posted yesterday's blog before we went to dinner last night so I didn't give the full details of our last night in Cambodia. We wandered down to the riverfront for a late dinner. It was packed with people. We had to try a couple restaurants before we found a table. We discovered why shortly when we heard a huge bang...the sky lit up and we were …

We were woken early in Chau Doc by rooster screams and back-firing motor bikes outside our poorly sound-proofed hotel windows. Fortunately, it was perfect timing to catch the end of England's defeat to Italy on penalties in Euros. We were glad that we hadn't stayed up to watch the whole match!

After arriving in the late afternoon the day …

The Gayest Bike Gang In Vietnam

A travel blog entry by kevandshuv

Four hours after getting on the bus we arrived at the Vietnamese border. Nothing like as extravagant or as stinky as the border with Thailand, this 'No-Mans Land' consisted of a few huts every couple of hundred yards, where the smiles got progressively more hidden the further we got. One immigration official refused to stamp Scottish Matt's visa …

    Noisy Night in Chau Doc

This was just a one night stop-over before heading on to Saigon. We went for a slightly more expensive room on the third floor with a balcony. Unfortunately, it overlooked the street, so it was noisy most of the night. I guess the windows didn't have great sound proofing. The cheaper rooms facing the other way, may have been better (noise-wise). Pretty average breakfast. Interesting sign for the lift: "Do not use the elevator after 7pm, because the power is weak!". If I could've got a couple of hours sleep, I would've given the hotel a higher rating!
