In every Han for himself I had the

advantage of being on a plane to Beijing with a plateful -ok a spoonful of caviar in front of me, not to mention a harem of happy Dutch flight attendants intent on stuffing me to bursting point with stroopwaffels. This time I have a National Express.

... our English Heritage pass, we just couldn't bring ourselves to yet another ruined castle. We did enjoy the walk however, beside a golf course for a while (thankfully, no wayward shots) and then on the wide sandy beach until we arrived at Low Newton where we lunched on fresh crab sandwiches and ploughman's at a quaint pub. It raining and almost blizzard conditions when we arrive and very difficult to find accommodation, Eventually we get some and then rooms had to change because wifi wouldn't work, Enjoyed some nice fish and chips int he new ...

... UK is not the same as in Australia. For a start the temperature was struggling to get into double figures and we were wearing all our cold weather clothes at once together with hats and scarves. The prices on the CC site are exactly double what we paid in Oz and even the cost of washing in their laundry machine was double. There are other differences which I will say more about later.

Despite the chilly weather we had a good trip on the Skipton to ...

I love Newcastle. The Geordie accent is fun, the people seem brilliant, and where Liverpool and Manchester had big angry red brick buildings, tall and square and industrial, Newcastle has the same cement yellow buildings and cobbled streets as Edinburgh. It's a pretty city set upon the Tyne and the mish mash of colourful bridges adds to the culture of this place. We had a very basic cooked breakfast this morning and then took a bus in to Newcastle Central. Newcastle had put ...
