Riviera Maya Caribbean Living Blog Day One: I was so excited about the trip and afraid I might sleep in and miss our flight, so I was awake way before the alarm went off. Paul Campbell (my sweetheart) and the reason for the trip - {Here's some backstory.... We were down in Fort Lauderdale Florida in November to promote a film that Paul stars in, "Play the Game." At a red carpet event sponsored by the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, we magically met Peta with Caribbean Living Magazine. We insta...

... and accommodating. We could just relax, walk around, check out the Mayan ruins and snorkel. All in all we had a great time and I would recommend this destination to anyone who loves Mexico or any newcomers, because it is such a great vacation. What is also great is that the hotel was cheap and I saved on it through the website that gave me a great hotel deal (www.sopriz.com). I couldn't find better deals anywhere else.
I went to the beautiful island of Cozumel last summer and had a great time. The website that I used was www.SOPRIZ.com and I was able to find a really cheap flight and a great resort hotel. The best part is that the hotel was cheap also. My family and I really enjoyed the trip and can't wait to go again and relax on the beautiful beaches again and swim with the dolphins. I wouldn't be able to go if I hadn't found the great vacation package at the website.
The next day I caught a bus from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen which is a resort town that has sprung up in the last 15 years to cater to the tourists that travel to the island of Cozumel. There is apparently some fantastic diving along the reefs around Cozumel, but for $70 USD for 2 dives (not including equipment) I thought I'd give it a miss.
Still I had a ...
... a wonderful get away. The resort is all we remembered and more. Carla and Heather have made full use of the Spa, I have laid in the sun, ridden a bike and Saturday I took Tobin to Tulum for the day. Tobin has been the center of attention. It has pretty much been Senior Tobias and those other people. Here are some pics
Hola como estas? Wow I finally am in Mexico. I was so excited about coming to Mexico. My first impressions were a bit weird because everything was new and I din´t know how things work and how the people are. After I landed in Cancun I took a bus to Playa del Carmen straight away. I didn´t want to spend any time in Mallorca of the USA and the next day my classes started. So as I arrived in Playa del Carmen ...
Playa del Carmen, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico brawand... when I tell them I´m English... they really seem to hate us for it (whatever "it" actually is). I think I shall read about it now. What other little tidbits are worth telling.... last night I trod on a massive bit of broken glass on the dancefloor and bled everywhere, but it is fine now. I also met a girl who was half Norweigen and half Peruvian, which I thought was quite a cool mix. One thing that really annoys me about this place is the whole tipping culture ...
Playa Del Carmen, Mexico elltrev... there was more beauty and adventures awaiting me around this beautiful world. So we jumped back on the bus after grabbing coconut flavored icy-poles and met the rest of the group in Playa before catching the bus to Cancun- the playground of Americans on Spring Break all year round! We spent our final night together eating a nice Italian meal with great garlic bread and then heading to the Hotel District (where the beach is) to probably the worst club ...
Playa del Carmen, Mexico mimmy21... still very awe inspiring all the same. The drastic change of architecter from site to site is incredible. They all seem to be different and unique in there own way. The only thing I didn´t like about the site were the hustlers inside the ruins trying to sell you stuff. They were scattered threw out the park. Tikal in Guatemala was nothing like that. In Tikal there was only one souvenir shop outside the park. I kind of ruins the experience of exploring ...
Tulum, Mexico whipmaster... lot about Mayan culture for having been here, Allow me to explain : San Juan Chamula is a purely Mayan town. It is self governing taking only the federal laws it likes and ignoring the others! The town is governed by its own political and religious leaders. The former being paid positions the later voluntary and taken for the honor of the position and the respect that come with it. its a costly business being a religious leader. ¨During your year of service you have to give ...
