Mexico lindo

4 new tires and a tank of gas and away we go

... until Alpine. we saw the marfi lights and where going to see them tonight. On the way back yesterday when we were coming to the rv mamaw got pulled over by the cops. She was going a little too fast, but was only warned! Papaw might be doing all the driving from now on.

I have questions to answer from Carlene and Aunt Cindy, but i will do that tomorrow, when I have more time!!

When a tire blows - you stop!

... rv, waiting for help. . At 7:50 someone came to help change the tire. Papaw cooked dinner in the microwave while we waited. . I lost my tooth while eating a piece of candy. We limped into Laredo and stayed in the walmart parking lot our first night. They came back to finish the tire at 7:45 a.m. the next morning. We walked to burger king for breakfast, then we had to buy 4 more tires.

The Day Before...

Its 6:15 PM, and our bus is about to depart for Queretaro, where we will connect to another bus or taxi onto San Miguel de Allende. I was surprised at how easy it was to get across the border. Karen and I went to the Mexican Consulate in Laredo to get our permisos. After eating lunch with my folks, we went to International Bridge #1 where we walked across with our luggage. Once across, we went into the immigration office to pay the fees for the permiso and then walked a few ...

... called on the 2-way. Hurry back guys, one of the best waterfront sites has just been vacated. We had to stake our claim before someone else. We cruised back to the site's private beach and started to relocate all our chairs and bikes while Bev pedaled furiously back to the main gate to re-book the new site. After convincing the rangers the woman who had left wasn't coming back they eventually gave us the ...

Leaving Laredo

... Quemado and we would have to take another route. We ended up taking Texas 131 to Brackettville and US 90 to Del Rio and only lost about half an hour, but we missed seeing the hometown of Jon Dee Graham. From Del Rio we took US277 to Sonora and there we got on I-10. As we got closer to El Paso we finally got out of the rain and crossed our first time zone and into Mountain Time. In El Paso we met up my friend Sibyl and her ...

Mexican Border

... Turned out we crossed the border with no problem at all, the bus stopped outside the office where we got our tourist cards in a very suspicious office with lots of scary Mexican officials sat around watching football and hopped back on the bus within minutes to go to customs. The 2 buses in front of us had to get off and all their bags checked but for some reason when it came to ours we just drove straight through. Anyway, there was a definite deterioration ...

In seach of Frontera

... this is the land of manana, even when the federal government is involved. I hardly even slowed down at La Aduana, or Mexican Customs, getting a green light. Turning on to Highway 2 I saw the sign informing of bad road conditons for the next nine kilometers. This section of road icrosses the farthest away strip of land in the state of Nuevo Leon and is only 20 kilometers across so it is very neglected. The last time I traveled this road it was similar to the moon's ...

Sunday Round Two

... thirteen points on the final loop. My final score of 52 points was pretty sad. Out of the ten riders that finished that day, I was number ten. "Oh well," I told them, "at least I've got a good story to tell." I want to thank everyone that worked so hard to put on such a great event. I know a lot of you put in many hours of hard work and then didn't even get to ride either day! Y'all are the greatest! The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials. Day Twenty-Nine

... we were immediately descended upon with offers to get us a veterinarian. Yeah, right, I drove all the way to Mexico to have my dog spayed. Turning down their offers of a vet, they quickly moved on to offers for both legal and illegal drugs followed by offers to get me a girl. I picked up the pace before they could get creative and offer me a veterinarian that turns tricks. It took only a couple of hours to view Nuevo ...
