Day 11 - Grand Canyon & Nevada

... long before we were just dripping with sweat which helped cool us down…we just kept moving and gradually started over taking people again! By the end we were so happy with our time considering we don’t really hike much.

Time to hike up = 1 hour 20 minutes

So it was 1 hour down and 1 hour 20 minutes up….we were pooped but felt very proud.

The view on the way up was just crazy, especially as the sun started to throw shadows ...

... is a place called Meadville that was setup a while ago for people from the East to buy retirement property in Vegas over looking lake Mead which was created after the construction of the Hoover Dam in 1935. ... under to cool off. We stayed there in the nice cool shade to eat our lunch, before heading back down to the boats. The afternoon was a lot of fun. We went through a few more rapids and then tied the two boats together, took off one of the tubes and put it behind the boat and then 'ran the tubes' (running along the tube, which is slippery and turning) then jumping into the icy cold river. ... The crew prepared everything from scratch and it was very impressive to see what they could do. Although we had not really expended much energy all day (mostly sitting on a raft), we were all very hungry! Then the sun sank below the canyon and before we knew it, it was dark, so we all headed off to bed. The night was peaceful until around 3.30am..... unfortunately it was overcast still, so we could not see any stars..... and then at around 3.30 the thunder ...
