Eeeuwww!!!!

... so much on offer to do you could just not ever get bored. There is a guy in the piano lounge in the evenings and he is just the funniest cabaret act I have seen in a long long time. Word must be getting around the ship how good he is because the place is packed and they are standing around the doorways to try and glimpse the act.

... that the suntan lotion we bought should have probably been a little stronger for this type of weather. OUCH!!!!!

Just before dinner, caught the Acapulco sunset. After dinner with Martin and Susan, we headed to deck 10 to see the Mexican Pool Party. Took in some of the music but were still too full to have any food. Down to the stateroom and sleep.

Another day in Paradise has set into the western horizon...

Finally, to the beach - Acapulco beckoned enticingly! As ever, I have to stay downtown where all the crummy, cheap hotels are, though generally that means more local character & noise. The st hotel was right in the thick of it & had to move somewhere quieter - as it was I'd already moved rooms - another hotel built by a man - many of the rooms had big windows in the showers as low as waist height and no window ...

The Coast Road To Acapulco

... bay and children with body-boards rode ashore on the wash - that was as wild as it got in the Bahía de Zihuatanejo. I sat down on the sand to dry off. A steady procession of flesh made its way along the Playa de la Ropa. Broadly, it comprised of two categories of norteamericano: couples in their twenties or thirties who'd flown down to Zihua for a weeklong romantic break; and snowbirds who were spending the season in México. The snowbirds strode confidently along the beach ...

... with us, he made us all lean in very close and said, ´when I figured this out, I became the happiest man in the world´... (and it´s true that he was insanely crack-happy) Well we waited with baited breath for an overly dramatic pause before he said, ´you can do whatever you want´. The girl goes, ´is that it?´. He´s like, `you don´t get it! It doesn´t matter what other people or society say or think. You. Can. Do. Whatever. You. Want.!!¨ and started dancing ...

... of the car to see the source of the smoke: the fuse box had started on fire. It had goten so hot that it melted some of the wires and was filling the car with smoke. Finally after 6 hours we made it to shalom hostel in Puerto Escondido, a big tourist destination due to its reputation as having the third best surfing beaches in the world next to Australia and Hawaii. For the next three days we settled into a routine of drinking at night with all the other people in ...

Greetings from Acapulco!

... and ricotta crepes as an appetizer. Shelley and I played Game Show Trivia that night... sadly we didn't win. Basically, it's hosted by the cruise director's staff and you actually stand at podiums like you would on a real game show. Afterwards, we listened to some music in the Versailles Lounge. The music was okay, but seeing it played was quite funny. We walked in as 4 asian men were tuning up their instruments and preparing for their set. So ...
