... to be a great experience. We felt like part of the family. Bailey and Gina opened the kitchen and allowed Steve to bartend. After all, they were busy preparing our gormet dinner. We met some great people (Hello, Kim and Meg). Once daylight came, we realized that the view from Bay Hill Towers must be the best in St Vincent. And... we could see Bequia from our room.

...so close but still a million miles away (we thought about swimming it)
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia 4thegoodtimesThe race to vacation has finally ended. Yay! On our way to Bequia (pronounced Beckway. Does David Beckham really own the island and do we really have to do it his way?). First an overnight in St. Lucia, and then a quick hop to St. Vincent tomorrow AM, and finally a ferry to paradise. We are running on fumes right now, but thoughts of the islands ...
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia 4thegoodtimes... haul, although I have to say Virgin was very good. The flight was first thing in the morning, the food good and a good choice of films. I also started to get to know my fellow travelers, of whom were 7 women between 26 and 65, and two guys in their twenties. They had traveled from Ireland, Scotland and England for this trip and most had never visited the Caribbean.
On landing at Hewanorra airport in the ...
Rodney Bay, Minas Gerais, Saint Lucia kat-hayterTravelling abroad is a fantastic perk of working in the travel industry and when I was given the opportunity to join an educational trip to St Lucia in the Caribbean, organised by the St Lucia Tourist board, I couldn't contain my excitement. The Caribbean is one of those places everyone would like to visit, and I thought my chance of going was a long way off. So of course I grabbed the opportunity with ...

Castries, Saint Lucia ri-anne.cruz... time feeling totally carefree.

The catamaran made its way to the cove of Anse Cochon where we all disembarked and enjoyed swimming in the tranquil waters for a while. Mi and I took a walk along the black sandy beach (due to volcanic activity), listening to the waves along the way under the watchful rays of the bright yellow sun.

After an hour, regretfully, we made our way back to the catamaran and then sailed ...
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia momentsintime... markets and have lunch local style. Most offering are the same as on other islands just with the name changed. I managed to buy a few Christmassy things in Europe (pudding, custard, chocolates) not knowing what would be available in the shops here on the islands. Lucky as there wasn't much to choose from and the prices were pretty frightening but thanks to those Kiwis and their sheep we were able to secure a leg of lamb ($70 AUD) for our Christmas dinner. The weather here ...
Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia bellavita... with the other and hearing some reggae play out on the radio as we sailed through these turquoise waters, I had come to realize that this day could not get any more perfect. After the sailing, we laid on the beach for a while and then we finished our perfect day with a little shopping in town. Before we knew it, we boarded back on the Freedom and we were officially on our way across the Atlantic and it would be 6 more days until we actually see land ...
