... of fish imaginable and gorgeous coral formations. We find an old metal hook in the water and play tag teams moving it from one place to another for the next person to find. What a life..

Our last night is spent drinking on the beach and eating out on a long candlelit table right under the stars. The setting is incredible with clear skies to which you can make out the city lights of Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia across the Red Sea. However, our gaze ...

... in a very nice way without yelling but rather talking to him along the way.

The water in the Red sea was cold and was perfect for a hot day like this. However, some of us got a little restless and decided to kayak our way to the deep end for some snorkelling. Michael 2, Cheng, Mark & I kayaked out to the deep end. It was mid-afternoon and the sun was at its peak perpendicular to the sea water. The visibility was amazing. An hour later tiredness started to ...

The Fast Boat - a 1 hour trip that took 4.5hours

A travel blog entry by caleb_cathy

Today we were going to be leaving Jordan and travelling across to Egypt - it is not really easy to cross borders here, and especially Israel charges quite a lot just to depart. So we decided the best way to do this was probably to go by ferry from Aqaba to Nuweiba. But as seems to be the case in these middle eastern countries - nothing is straight forward. We packed up our gear, had breakfast and organised the bill to be paid - they had no idea of how much ...

... was burst. I looked at the back of the ship and not only were we still docked, there was a huge line of men still waiting to board, as well as 12 semis in line to get on, plus as at least 10 passenger cars to load. Random announcements in Arabic were constantly made, but seemed to mean nothing. We weren’t going anywhere.

Nightmare. But, Mary discovered that for 20 pounds we could buy a private room with bunk beds and toilet. Oh, we ...

... that of Field Marshal Montgomery. (WW2.) In the little museum there is the (original) document signed by Napoleon securing the protection of the monastery; and a (copy) of an even older one from Mohammed giving the same pledge.

The monk and I did get onto talking about the Red Sea crossing of Moses. Was it from mainland Egypt to Sinai? Or Sinai to Saudi Arabia? Was it through a freak wave or shallow reeds? And have chariot wheels and horses bones really ...

Very cool location, nice ambient and good food.
The camp is directly on the beach at 50 meters of a wonderful coral reef and 10 minutes walk from shops and restaurants in town.
Habiba is member of the WOOF so they have a farm nearby were they grow organic vegetables and you can work for a while as a volunteer if you want. You get a room and nice food.
There are several tour operators that can organize whatever you want to do in the area for reasonable prices.
