Historical Traveler Reviews Ha An Hotel Hoi An
Beautiful property,fantastic staff
We stayed here in March in 2 identical rooms, one on the ground floor & one on the 1st.
Ha An Hotel only has 17 rooms,in a U shape.
Its just 2 minutes walk from the market in a lovely quiet street, which is quite a rarity in Hoi An.
Rooms are beautifully maintained & spotlessly clean, not huge but most (not all) have a verandah with table & chairs looking out to the garden.Nice touches like the petals & dvd add to the experience.
There are communal seats in the garden & 2 hammocks.Free internet & also an outdoor pool table which is a little bizarre.
Staff are incredibly helpful & there are plenty of them,English is no problem. We had an ATM drama & they went out of their way at 9pm to sort it for us,including taking us to Bank to translate.
Room was $40 US inc breakfast, the restaurant was reasonably
priced & the food was as good as I had in any hotel.
Despite not having a website,it was basically full so your biggest drama may be getting a room.Make the effort.
Stay at the HA AN - Wonderful Treat!
My boyfriend and I stayed here, following a reccomendation from a fellow traveller, a nice spot to take a rest and live like your in the Pennunsula, Bangkok, for $40!!!!! Dont know why this is a low star place, it was amazing. Rooms so clean and fresh, flowers sprinkled over the bed and bathroom, all the mod cons, lovely veranda in every room, staff so gentle and friendly, breakfast like a 6 star resort, fresh fruit in abundance and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Very convenient for town, right there on the edge, a 5 minute walk to the centre. You can also take bikes free of charge, a nice friendly man at the gate will help you. I often use this site and all I can say to fellow users is you will be very hard pushed to find better value for your money anywhere in the world than in the Ha An hotel in Hoi An! Enjoy!!!!!!!! Absolutely Beautiful!
Writing this review from Ha An right now and I just want to tell you guys that this has been the best place we have stayed at in Vietnam so far.
We got a US$40 room on the 2nd floor and when we checked in, the room was decorated with lots of pretty flower petals and flowers were everywhere! I thought that was a really nice touch esp since we've been travelling on a overnight train to get here. Some hot ginger tea and a little basket of sweets completed our welcome.
The breakfast selection is a great mix of Vietnamese and western food and service has been excellent. We also tried the set menus and have not been disappointed yet.
The hotel is built around a courtyard with lots of greenery and looks really quaint as its built in traditional Hoi An style. Its in a quiet location away from the main action which is still within short walking distance if you wish to explore the town.
Double thumbs up for this pretty little hotel....I'm looking forward to chilling out by the hammock in the courtyard already!
Great boutique style hotel
We had been staying out of Hoi An and on the recommendation of friends went to have a look at the Ha An. They were happy to show us the three levels of rooms.
Basic (US$30), the Superior (US$40) and the Executive (US$50). The difference between the Superior and the Executive is not so much in the room (didn't see any difference) but in the bathroom (the Superior has a fab looking walk-in drenching shower whilst the Executive has an over the bath shower) and that the Executive is upstairs and has a small balcony where you can sit.
The room and bathroom are wonderful and have everything you could possibly want; air-conditioning, TV and DVD player (including DVD's), tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries and safe. There is no kettle in the room - they have a thermos for hot water - you can ask them to refil it.
Price is per room and includes an excellent breakfast.
The position of the hotel is great, about a 3 min walk down to the market (and pass the little Viet Lac jewellery shop).
The only thing they could improve on is the pillows - a little hard for my liking. I would certainly stay at this charming little hotel again and thorougly recommend it.
Little piece of heaven in Vietnam, Helen Ireland
Just arrived back from a month travelling all over Vietnam, stayed in Ha An hotel after reading reviews on trip advisor. This hotel was beyond all expections and I would advise anyone to stay here. The rooms were spotless, beautiful peaceful hotel, no one hassling you to buy trips from reception, free bikes for all guests, breakfast out of this world, you could spend hours over breakfast there was so much to choose from. Without doubt the best hotel I've stayed in on my trip to Vietnam. Highly recommened it.
Cute Oriental Hotel
Last time I stayed in Thanh Xuan Hotel and this time I would like to try Ha An Hotel after read a lot of good words about it in this website.
Ha An hotel is beyond our expectation. The room is very lovely - we booked superior room, it's quite spacious, on 2nd floor overlook the courtyard. The hotel also dropped rose petals on the bed and in the bathroom which was cute. We didn't have much chance to dine out since it was raining all day all night (for 3 days!!) so we had most of our dinners in the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant was also nice esp at night where the lights were lit - pretty romantic. The food there was delicious & reasonable price.
With the price we paid - USD 40/night, we cannot be happier. It's definitely our preferred hotel in Hoi An.
What a Gem
I can't say enough about how lovely this little hotel was. It was like a little oasis in the centre of town. The rooms had a bit of style about them but it was the amazing service and extra's that the hotel offers that make it special. Breakfast is beautiful and fresh, the best of all the hotels we stayed in.
You would come home from a hot day of site seeing and the staff would knock at your door offering you a cool drink and face washer soaked in refreshng essential oils. They give you bikes to ride around for free and when you arrive home they are at the gate so you can just hand them over. You sit in the cafe reading your booked and they constantly serve iced lemon tea. We even came home one day to find a fresh essential orange bath soak in our bathroom to have a bath that smelt devine.
The only thing missing from this place is a pool, but the ride to the beach is fun and easy.
The Ha An is a really special place.
Ha An Hotel
Located conveniently in the heart of the ancient town, this large and charming garden hotel is set at the eastern edge of Hoi An and has a large, very pleasant garden area in front highlighted by potted orchids. Rooms are spotless and in a two-storey building to the left of the main (and older) building. Dotted throughout with tasteful art and great (though shared) balconies overlooking the lawn, the rooms here are great mid-range value. While the central building looks like old world charm, the rooms are very new world, coming with DVD players and a collection of mostly Jackie Chan movies to watch. Large breakfast buffet is served by the friendly staff and bicycles are free for guests (though be sure to check the brakes work).
A very pleasant boutique style hotel , the Ha An is beautifully situated amid peaceful gardens and water features. Well appointed rooms, decent restaurant and the Ha-An hotel is convenient stay in Hoian.
Welcoming, family -run hotel, set back from the street in a quiet residential area. Its all rooms are arranged around a spacious lobby and, through not huge, are beautifully decorated in a mix of traditional and contemporary styles.
Ha An Hotel - Great Oasis in Hoi An
I didn't see the Ha An listed in your hotels for Hoi An. I recently stayed there for 3 days and loved it. The other folks I met at the hotel also had a similar experience and raved about the place. The rooms were very clean, modern yet full of character, nice wooden amenities, and spacious. The front staff, especially the main receptionist Huyen, spoke good english and was very friendly and helpful. There is a beautful open courtyard that leads to the restaurant where breakfast and drinks are served. Rates for the rooms ran from $35 to $50 depending on the location. So even if a bit high by overall Vietnam standards, I felt was still a good value given the property. Its a short walk to the main part of town and actually enjoyed the relaxation of being a bit away from the main market and activity.

It started with good intentions
The bad thing when you wait a few days to blog is that there's so much to write down that I don't even know where to begin. With any grand endevour, it really sucks when you realize that you're not going to realize your original goals. For me, I have been very lazy about blogging. We have had free internet in every single hotel that we have been in …
Words of wisdom
Sometimes you see something that's so mind blowing that you don't know where to begin. I had two such experiences today. These were not digitally enhanced or modified in any way!!! Today was definitely a shopping day... Lisa and i just spent over a grand on tailored clothes today in hoi an. I now have 3 suits and 8 dress shirts to wear. I even …
Whats your name? Where you from? Come to my shop?
After 3 nights in Hue we took a 4 hour bus ride south down to Hoi An. Hoi An is recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site due to its rich architectural fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese & European influences. The main attractions are the 500 tailor shops and two-hundred year old wooden-fronted shop-houses, not to mention …
