... that there was a mixup in the apartment booking and the apartment they thought was available really wasn’t. So surprise, no apartment when the 17 of us (Gomes X 4 + checked bags X 8 + unchecked bags X 4 + stroller + walker) arrive in Paris. Clara, the relocation agent we’ve been working with was profusely apologetic and promised to help fix it. So until we find an apartment we’ll be at a hotel. Thing is, the backup hotel they’d booked ...

... meet us and take us to our hotel where we'll meet our expert guides, Yam Gurung and Peter Hillary for a short intro and briefing. My hope is that we'll have time to head over to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiennamun Square. I promised Mercedes, that I'd Google TS because she read somewhere that all information pertaining to the square is blocked by the Chinese government. We'll find out. Signing off for now. Going to attempt to get some more sleep. Hooray for ...

The next day we decided to hit the shops and did a wander through of all of the big stores here, including the Westfield, Victoria's Secret, Macy's Levi's, Bloomingdales and Steve Madden. I left with a lifetimes supply of Victoria's Secret and some new black jeans :) At night we decided we needed to drink our Napa wines so ...

... We're embarking on a long East Coast getaway that has us flying into North Carolina (first time visit for me and the kids) to visit my sister-in-law and my cousin and their respective families. I'm eager. Afterwards, we've got a long drive into Virginia to visit grandparents and other family for over a week. We'll make it just back in time to celebrate my little girl turning 2!!

... to travel now feels like such a luxury to me. One word of advice: save your money buying things you don't really need and "splurge" on a European vacation with friends and family. Put it on your bucket list at the top and most immediate item to fulfill. You'll never regret going and will continue to find ways to discover new places on our fascinating planet.

Thanks for reading the blog and seeing my trip through my eyes! Ciao! XO ...
