Did a few chores ready to pack and went off to San Jose to watch England.. Ended up getting talking to some expats and a guy from Central America before we all sloped off to an Irish bar.... They're everywhere! Good company and they even had a band! Sort ...
... already. Because of the whole hostile atmosphere, I didn't bother saying anything, just turned around and stood in the entrance to the concourse for a bit.
It was terrifying. Stressful isn't in it! It was like attending a bar brawl, where a football game had broken out in the background and no-one was taking any notice of it. Totally weird. A lot of people seemed to be drunk, or high...and there were a lot of kids about too.

... feet doesn't seem like much, especially after the 7,000, 8,000 10,000 foot elevations we saw in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. But these were steep and frequent. Repeated instances of 5 and 6 percent grades, both up and down. We stopped at the Redwood National Park visitor center, where, oddly enough, we got a nice view of a tidal marsh, and we took a short detour on the Avenue of the Giants, where the redwoods are big enough in diameter to drive a truck through.

... Tech Museum which is just across the street. It's no Science World. It was a pleasant way to spend a while. I did enjoy seeing an IMAX film called Baby Animals. Then I walked several blocks to the Textile and Quilt museum. Currently they have on loan several panels of the original AIDS quilt from the late 80s.
