Within minutes of arriving on the French Island of Corsica, we noticed a big difference from Italy. The roads are organised, sign posted and in comparison to Sicily the cars are massive...and newer. There is hardly any rubbish by the side of the roads (& there are even recycling bins). First hand proof that there are some benefits to paying taxes.... and less organised crime over the centuries probably helps as well! It's now the last week of ...

Today we headed off well prepared for any sort of weather.
Again climbing mountains. Weather was hot! Climb along a river valley and up the mountain. Mostly out in the open and very hot. Had to take clothes of rather than put them on.
Jen not feeling the best so she went back to her accommodation and we said we would walk for about 4 hours.

Eventually get to the end of the track. Up the mountain to the lac de mulo. Very rugged, ...

... the pirates and beautiful stonewalls with limestone caves etc. Lots of photos here, always a sign that I really like the place. After doing a boat tour around the harbour, I took a little train up to the old town/ bastion. When I came back there was nothing like a rose in the sun! Overall this reminds me more of a Greek Island, not sure which one, than say Sicily. I can see Sardinia on the horizon, only 12 km away so will be interesting to compare them in the ...

      Delicacies of Sartene

... minutes west and inland from PV. On our drive, we see many cork trees, that are partially naked of cork.. Our guide explained that cork trees takes 7 years to be fully mature for harvesting. What Corsicans do to promote sustainability is harvest the cork in stages from the trees. (America, pay heed!)

Sartene is beautiful! Cobblestone, narrow winding streets. We arrive at our restaurant ...
