After breakfast Dave and I opted for an optional excursion which took us on the Ardeche Steam Train. We enjoyed a scenic ride along the Ardeche Mountains. The train took us to places that tour busses could not. We saw spectacular views of waterfalls, gorges and deep valleys. There also was an aqueduct built to store and provide water for the region. The steam engine was amazing. I ...

... the Avignon Philharmonic Orchestra magnificent. Our table of 4 couples, Americans, Melbournians and 2 Sydneysiders gelled well as we had mostly connected on previous occasions. A lot of fun and laughter, before we strolled back to the waiting boat on a very mild and beautiful night. Day 29: This morning was marked by mild temp but also by the strong and gusty 'mystral' wind. We headed out for our excursion to the ...

... before we were back on the bus and back to the ship for lunch. We were greeted with the good news that the ship had been repaired and we promptly set off for our next stop. So we are enjoying a relaxing afternoon, sailing the Rhone, listening to a presentation of everything Provence and soon will be having a tour of the Chefs galley. Tonight we have a gala dinner in the Banquet Hall of the Palace of the Pope in Avignon complete with a classical string ...
