Cafayate...our last Argentine destination!
Cafayate is a fabulous little town , 3hours south of Salta. An extremely scenic drive too ...at first glance it reminded of us of Aryes Rock in Australia or the Grand Canyon. We took the bus up and down winding and hilly roads that eventually lead to the town which is surrounded by vineyards. Very picturesque! Also this place gets 340days of …
Vallée Calchaquies
... Argentine.
We have to sit there for 12 hours?!
... our opinion of the tour as well.
The tour was to the town of Cafayate which is south of Salta. We drove though a gorge to get there and made a couple stops including the Devil's Throat (a collapsed waterfall) and the Amphitheater which had musicians playing music in it.
Once in Cafayate, we visited two wineries. This area is famous for their white Torrentes wine - not a hug fan of this type of wine.

Would recommend this hostel mainly because the staff (Pia and Nico) were so friendly and helpful! They are also backpackers and staying at Ruta working for a few months. The hostel itself is very clean and has a nice courtyard where you can eat and drink. It is a 1 minute walk from the main plaza also.
The water cut out both days midshower which was a bit frustrating but they were quick to fix it and very apologetic. Also you cant bring in your own drink from outside the hostel, but you can in others. Overall we would stay here again.
