So my first night in Spain wasn't quite what I expected. I arrived in Leon and walked to my hotel. I didn't see any other pilgrims all night. After asking around at my hotel and several shops, I still had no luck finding an outlet adapter. This was causing a slight panic because Madrid and Leon are two of the largest cities I'm visiting. I also found that very few people speak any English, those that do can't speak very much. This ...

... A few beers / coffee and we headed for the bus station. It was a quick 20 minute ride into Leon, 10 minute walk to our Hostal, shower, then out to drinks and dinner with our Irish friends - Joe and Deidre. We were all very tired, but it was a good night getting to know them, seeing a few familiar pilgrim faces around town, ANOTHER pilgrim meal, a nice bottle of red and bed! They had walked over 40kms so should've been ...

Todays walk is about 28.6 kms to Astorga with a population of about 12,000 and we head off immediately after our 7 a.m breakfast in order to not arrive too late. Its a beautiful walk today, the countryside and the villages are really lovely. ...

... unhappy today as someone took his camera from the albergue this afternoon. While the camera can be replaced, the hundreds of photos from this trip cannot. We all agreed to provide what photos we had to him.

It appears Ute has plantar fasciitis so cannot walk. She will try to bus it between towns while Roland will walk.

The cathedral is magnificent as is some of the architecture. Leon seems very sophisticated, with ...

... were bigger. Elevation varied by 50 meters on 3 hills today. When we arrived in to Astorga we met a German lady who was in a lot of discomfort trying to walk up a ramp that took one up and over the railroad tracks. It was like trying to get to the upper levels at Taylor Field and then back down again. It seemed senseless to try to cross a double track. I back tracked a little and found a path that easily crossed over the tracks and was not out of our way. By the time the lady got ...
