... running the Albergue say the wind was particularly violent that day, I felt like i had survived something. The side wind picks on one ear and will catch the bike like a sail and push it, you need to pay attention when moving fast downhill in one of these. Wind plays with your sense of how fast you are going and a km in a strong wind can feel like it takes forever.

Hills, oh hills. We are doing 700 km on this journey, 200 of them are on a plains ...

Leon ... Not what we expected

... and beyond. We initially thought we´d get to Leon tomorrow, but as we rode, we started to get excited about the prospect of arriving there today and having some bonus time. The ride went smoothly and quickly this morning and with every hour we became more excited about the possibility of actually getting to Leon today. Signage here is a bit odd and we weren´t sure exactly how far Leon was from our albergue ... maybe 70 kms? maybe less?

Madrid tortuous path to collect bags then slow at beltway. ALSA bus had to get connection to city station. No one speaks English. access wifi but on my way. Lovely bus trip kept falling asleep Went through meseta and Mansilla. Perhaps glad I skipped this. Nice walk bus station to Hostal Guzman. Single room clean and 30 m from the Camino. ... right, a nameless Canadian from Alberta, about our age. Both guys were walking solo and planning to walk all the way to Santiago. The guy from Canada had previously walked the Camino in Portugal. Another couple seated opposite Linda were from Rotterdam and shared interesting facts about their country that may be useful as we plan our next year's adventure in Europe to go along with finishing our Camino.
