    ... Children's Welfare Institute. We were kindly received by the Director of the home and one of his attendants. Needless to say, Qiang recognized the surroundings and he ran ahead merrily with the director's assistant. In turn he was warmly received by his friends. The orphanage is regarded has one of the better orphanages, but our perception is that it is far below western standards.     After some more paperwork and an official family photo, the four of us were taken back tothe hotel. The official transfer is tomorrow. Today we've signed a contractstating that we would take care of Qiang for the next 24 hours. Tomorrow thepaperwork will be formalised and legalised by a notary. This means returning tothe registry office again. But for now, it is our first afternoon with the nipper...

    Good morning! Last full day in China...hardly seems possible. Today we head to Suzhou which is nicknamed the 'Venice of the East'. I am TRYING to stay open...but is it possible???
