        ... the gift shop and they had everything cathedral!! We also found a shop we had gone in last time that had official German "stuff" and I found the candle merry-go-round thingy mother had...I wanted to get one for our family tradition.         We arrived at Dan and Andrea's place yesterday around noon and enjoyed a nice lunch of soup and an Italian pizza at the local (and newly renovated) Italian restaurant a short walk away. Dan and Andrea are both working full time and so we took the afternoon yesterday and this morning to explore around the town. We picked up our VW Golf station wagon this afternoon. It's front facade covers 750 sq metres and has 10,000 sq metres of lead light windows. It suffered 14 direct bomb hits during the war but was rebuilt.         ... to do a boat trip on the river Rhine. The boat trip would have been a complete waste of time (I couldn't hear the guide at all the man must have been whispering!) if it hadn't been a group of elderly pensioners! There were about 6-7 school friends doing a trip together and were so lovely and friendly. One of the guys spoke very good English, but I spoke to him in German.         ... home from the Christmas weekend or something. Oh well. We made it across Germany in just under four hours. The screen told us that at times we were going faster than 250 km/hour. Pretty dang fast.

        Our hostel was a short walk from the station. We are in an 8 person dorm which is more than half full. We are facing a main street with a loud metro car that passes every three minutes or so. I hope we can sleep.
