... there in Maribor, doesn't help we forgot our guide book either. The most entertaining bit was arriving in Ljubljana Airport and picking up the hire car for my first driving on the right hand side of the road experience (have previously driven in NZ but they are the same as side as the UK).

... I walked over to a local grocery store and marvelled at all of the unfamiliar brands and new products. At the checkout I 'pretended' to be Slovenian by using what few words I knew, guessing what was being said to me in Slovenian and responding accordingly with body language and simple sounds of affirmation or denial. It was pretty funny and I think I got away with it! In the evening we all went for some pretty delicious pizza at a place in town before calling it a day.
Neither of us had any expectations of Slovenia so didn't know what to expect, we had originally struggled to find a campsite in the area but on further investigation we found Camping Kekec so headed for it. Its at the foot of Mountain Pohorje in Maribor and has stunning views, we had stunning views throughout our journey through Slovenia.
