... at a viewpoint above them for a few photos and then I walked down a short path into the little village. This breathtakingly beautiful collection of roundhouses is again spoilt with amazing views out over the hills, filled with rice paddies and tea fields. Really bringing yourself to leave is a struggle, its just too nice sitting out on a ledge and watching either the countryside on one side or the people on the other.

My first destination in real China was YongDing to look at the ancient Tulou houses of the Hakka people.

It took my about 8 hours by train to get there, and as I was unfamiliar with the train system, I ended up with a "standing ticket," which is exactly what it sounds like. Standing. 8 hours.
