Today was my last full day in Andorra. There wasn't a huge amount to do. It wasn't snowing, but the wind was so fierce that it seemed like a sand storm made out of snow. I had a great time watching a group of cows grazing in snow up to their stomachs. Other than that I had a walk around town and spent about an hour at a ...
Canillo, Andorra sirsmonkey42
After a long night on a surprisingly jam packed night train, I arrived at a train station about 1km from the Andorra border. I was slightly worried about my transportation from the train station at l'Hospitalet to my destination 26km into Andorra. The cryptic information information I was able to find on the web about buses told me that there were 2 per day, one leaving at 7:30am and the other 7:30pm. This was a bit disconcerting as my train arrived ...
Canillo, Andorra sirsmonkey42Went up to the Col de Port this morning. At 1250m it’s the big dividing force between this valley and the next. A climb of around 300m from where we are currently staying. The mountain road twisting and turning, making it almost impossible to go faster than 50km/hr. Turns so sharp you’re forced to go over the lines or slow to a crawl. But of course, if you’re going to meet a vehicle on this road, it will be at ...
Forat dels Clots de Massat, Andorra 2totango... bottle here, i am referring to a 1.5 liter plastic bottle), and 2 bottles of red. Plus a real bottle of champagne for good measure. Geez, hes so forward thinking....

right, he's back from the shopping now, so time to go, talk more at the next time we have internet (btw, never spent so much time at McDonald's in my life, but they seem to be the only guarenteed place to get wifi in France, go figure!)....
Sahorre, Languedoc-Roussillon, France jamieandjason... cheap. What you save in duty you’d make up in European rent, easy. The US is cheap, pure if not simple. Still Andorra is okay, easily dissed without cause. The only thing I can’t handle is the smoke, the man-made kind. The new regs haven’t reached here yet, so Andorra may soon become the place where smokers flock to light up in public, the anti-Amsterdam. That’s a claim to fame they can probably do without.
Andorra la Vella, Andorra hardiek... centre) to confirm my reservation for tonight, as per the owner's instructions, but had a heck of a time connecting. Turns out the attendant thought I was trying to call Honduras, and not Andorra, and had given me the wrong calling code. Has my Spanish really gotten that bad they he couldn't tell the difference?

Off to the bus station - as I got off the metro, I gave away my remaining metro tickets, since I don't know when I'll be back to ...

Solsona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands maxintEls Caçadors: a very good, family-run hotel in Ribes with both 1-star and 3-star accomodation. Very good food and reasonable prices. There are also other possibilities for accomodation in Ribes, which as far as service is concerned has all you need. I recommend this as a base for your excursions to the peaks around Núria. Much cheaper than living in the hotel at Núria.
Ribes de Freser, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands slun... and it was windy. We got very cold very fast. As luck would have there was a cafe at the top that was open so we had a hot choclate and listened to some crazy American woman try play her guitar and sing American folk songs or something very badly. So as much as we would have liked to stay and listen we made our way down. Very slowly as the roads where slick and you could not see very far. We were shivering down for the first 5 or 6 km ...
Girona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands vamos_sur... wave of gastronomy that is iconoclastic in its rebellion against traditional culinary techniques. Branded "molecular gastronomy", it adopts a scientific approach to cooking (yes, yes, I know that I'm a food geek!) Anyway, this was the next best thing to El Bulli.

First, we stopped at the TI to get directions - I didn't want to miss out on this experience by getting lost. We quickly picked up a pair of flip flops ...
