With some free time on my hands, I've had the opportunity to get out a bit and explore Jinan. The city is actually very nice. It is a very old city founded on the site of hundreds of hot springs. The rivers that run through the city are fed by those springs, and people flock to them to get hot water for their tea. ... the most exciting faces about this school is that it has a pair of very large snails. It seems like no one likes them so I have been given permission to take them home with me. I am thinking of naming them Mr. Beetle (since I already fell in love with the name when I was planning to get a beetle) and Stinky (because they do).

... began. The tradition in Jinan is that each host does three toasts. All we had were rather large glasses. So, I was very worried. Thankfully, my two hosts took it easy on me, and there was no gambei.
