Apparently the city was so impressed with their clock (built .. 1400's??) that they cut off the inventors tongue and lips, and seared his eyes - effective in preventing him building another clock elsewhere. He got his revenge though, by throwing himself from the tower into the clock workings. Dead perhaps, but his clock no longer worked 'cos no one could fix it in his absence for a hundred or so years. ... much lower at that time than it is today. Many bars and restaurants today have entrances on street level but are below ground, including the one we went to for dinner. Within a beautiful brick cellar with heavy wooden furniture and candles for lighting, we enjoyed a traditional Czech meal with Czech wine served in goblets (for under $10 each!). ... the clock tower, but we couldn’t see all the details at night. Afterwards, we were still quite awake so we experienced some Prague nightlife.
I love the city. Even though I've only seen much of it at night, I'm fascinated by the glorious architecture and statues. I can't wait to see more of it tomorrow!

We kept asking direction to the old town square knowing once we found it we would know how to get where we want to go. After passing the same corner twice we asked directions yet again and finally headed off in the right direction. Success, we found the square! As it was heading on to 3:00pm we definitely needed ...
... we would hop off when we saw something interesting. We were headed to the old city. But we didn't have our maps and left the tram at the wrong stop. We decided we should get directions to the castle. A helpful pedestrian gave us the metro route to get there quickly.
